  1. Ownership of Copyright
  • Copyright of all published articles in the Arghand Journal of Social Sciences (AJSS) remains with the authors.
  • Authors grant AJSS and Kandahar University a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, distribute, reproduce, and archive their articles in any form, format, or medium, including print and digital.
  • This arrangement allows authors to retain control over their work while ensuring wide dissemination of knowledge.
  1. Author Rights

Authors publishing with AJSS retain the right to:

  • Reuse their article, in whole or in part, in future works (such as books, lecture materials, or reports), provided proper citation to the original publication in AJSS is given.
  • Deposit the accepted manuscript or published version in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other open-access platforms without prior permission, provided acknowledgment of AJSS as the original place of publication is included.
  • Share their work freely for teaching, research, and non-commercial purposes.
  1. Licensing and Access Policy
  • All articles published in AJSS are distributed under an open access policy, ensuring free and universal access to scholarly work.
  • Authors agree to license their work under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), or an equivalent license, which permits others to copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the work, for both commercial and non-commercial purposes, as long as appropriate credit is given.
  • This approach supports the journal’s mission of fostering knowledge dissemination, sustainable development, and community resilience.
  1. Responsibilities of Authors

By submitting a manuscript to AJSS, authors affirm that:

  • The work is original and does not infringe upon any copyright or intellectual property rights of others.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All necessary permissions have been obtained for the use of copyrighted materials (such as figures, tables, or data) from third parties.
  • Proper acknowledgment and citation are provided for all referenced works, data sources, and supporting materials.
  1. Responsibilities of the Journal and Publisher
  • AJSS and Kandahar University will ensure that all articles are archived, indexed, and made freely accessible in perpetuity.
  • The editorial office will safeguard authors’ rights by publishing articles with clear copyright notices and license statements.
  • The journal will act in compliance with international publishing ethics and best practices for scholarly dissemination.
  1. Third-Party Usage
  • Readers, researchers, and institutions are free to download, distribute, and reuse articles published in AJSS under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.
  • Commercial and non-commercial reuse is permitted, provided that authors and the journal are properly credited.
  • Unauthorized modifications or misrepresentations of the original work are prohibited.
  1. Copyright Disputes and Ethical Considerations
  • In the event of a copyright dispute, the AJSS Editorial Board will investigate and resolve matters in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
  • Authors found to have violated copyright, plagiarism, or ethical standards may face sanctions, including article retraction and restrictions on future submissions.

All works published in AJSS must include the following acknowledgment statement:

“This article was originally published in the Arghand Journal of Social Sciences (AJSS), Kandahar University.”
