  1. General Principles

GJNS recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can support research, writing, and analysis. However, their use must remain transparent, responsible, and ethical. Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts, including any material generated or assisted by AI tools.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Acceptable Use of AI Tools

Authors may use AI-based software or tools for:

  • Language polishing (grammar, spelling, clarity).
  • Formatting references (APA style, citation managers).
  • Data analysis and visualization (statistical software, modeling, figure generation).
  • Translation (to improve readability in English).

Such use must be reviewed and verified by the authors to ensure accuracy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Prohibited Use of AI Tools

Authors must not use AI for:

  • Generating entire manuscripts or large sections of text without author oversight.
  • Producing false, fabricated, or manipulated data, figures, or references.
  • Creating plagiarized, misleading, or unverified content.

Any misuse of AI tools will be treated as a breach of research integrity and handled according to COPE guidelines.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Authorship and Accountability
  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authorship requires intellectual contribution, accountability, and responsibility—qualities that AI does not possess.
  • Human authors remain fully accountable for all claims, interpretations, and conclusions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Disclosure Requirement

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in their manuscript under a section titled “Declaration of AI Use”.

Example Statement:

“The authors used [AI tool name, version] to assist with language editing and grammar improvement. The authors reviewed and approved all generated content.”

If no AI tools were used, authors should state:

“No AI-assisted tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Responsibilities of Reviewers and Editors
  • Reviewers and editors may use AI tools only for language improvement or plagiarism checks, never for generating review content or decisions.
  • Editorial decisions will always be made by qualified human experts.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Ethical and Legal Compliance
  • AI use must comply with COPE guidelines, CC BY 4.0 licensing, and international standards for academic publishing.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any third-party material (figures, datasets) used alongside AI-assisted outputs.
